Hey Bagel Lovers,
Now a serious and divisive topic – one that has ripped this country apart and is all people seem to be talking about – I’m sorry to have to bring it up but Gluten Free…. I get asked maybe 10 or 12 times a day if we can do gluten free and just like Brexit, the answer is a more complex one than you might imagine.
So yeh, we oﬀer a sourdough and rye bagel which is our wheat-free bagel, but still contains gluten, however in order for us to sell that as gluten free it would have to be made in a separate bakery and not the floury gluten ridden one we currently have. We could do what is known in the business as a “Pret” and just let you think our almost gluten-free option is in fact gluten-free but that goes against the Bross Bagel Rule Book: Number 1 – don’t lie to the customer, Number 2 – never turn down a sambuca in the morning… these are the rules I live my life by. Coincidentally – they were pretty close to Burns’ moral code too…
We can also oﬀer you the ingredients of any of our signature bagels to take away in a box with some salad so you can add your own GF bread and we are working on a solution so that we can bring you truly gluten free in the future but until then bear with us and I’ll continue to do what I can to fill your hole in the way you most want… again coincidentally – another thing that Burns was very good at.
